Desire Agossou is the Thematic Advisor for Local Value Chain Development at Oxfam Novib, based in The Hague, The Netherlands. In this role, he works to strengthen local value chains for agroecological products to improve food security and income, particularly for female farmers. He collaborates with national farmer organizations, rural communities, and allies to develop financial services, support local business development, and incentivize the production and conservation of diverse crops and local food plants (LFPs).

He also co-develops and shares innovative materials aimed at enhancing local value chains, livelihoods, and incomes for smallholder farmers, and contributes to the development of strategies and proposals that strengthen the Seeds program.

He holds a PhD in Business Strategy & Entrepreneurship from the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands, where he also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher. His expertise lies in Small Business Management, Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Agricultural Economics. His main areas of focus include market-based solutions to grand challenges, sustainability and innovation in developing economies, and institutional support for small business development.
